The Roger Tory Peterson Institute (RTPI) is pleased to present a workshop with illustrator Robin Brickman on Saturday, March 18, from 10:00am – 12:00pm.  This talented artist will deliver a visual presentation sharing her process for illustrating the book Leaflets Three, Let it Be!, which features her work entitled Baby Opossum and Insects in the Fall, currently on view in Focus on Nature XIV at RTPI. Artist Dale Weiler Creates Snowy Owl Sculpture to Benefit RTPI

We are very excited to announce the release of a new bronze sculpture created by Dale Weiler to support wildlife conservation programs underway at RTPI. The bronze, “Elevated Perspective”, is a 9-inch rendering of a snowy owl, one of Peterson’s favorite species to paint and the icon for RTPI. It is also the first bronze Dale has created in the last ten years. Dale and his wife, Loti, are donating 100% of the profits to RTPI’s ‘Project Wild America’ initiative – a program which promotes experiencing nature in your own backyard. Feeder Birds of Newfoundland

This plate, titled “Feeder Birds” is from the 1951 book “Birds of Newfoundland”, by Harold S. Peters and Thomas D. Burleigh of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Peters and Burleigh were commissioned by the Newfoundland government to write the book to be used as a reference in schools, as well as  for citizens and tourists of Newfoundland. The book covers 227 birds, and was illustrated with 32 color plates and 40 line drawings by Roger Tory Peterson.
