Saturday Bird Walk led by Emma Little

Join us for an early morning bird walk through the Peterson Preserve. Our guide for this walk is Emma Little.

About Emma:
Emma Little grew up birding across the state of North Carolina, nourished by a deep interest in ecology, a love for the eastern forests of Turtle Island/North America, and a fascination with avian biodiversity. Since the age of 12, she has been involved with avian research and educational programming through the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Emma has worked as a bird bander at high-volume migratory stations and a field technician for inter-agency research and conservation projects concerning golden-winged and cerulean warblers, hermit thrush, eastern whip-poor-will, wild turkey, and ruffed grouse, among others.

A jack of all trades, they have also worked as a native plant landscaper, a dance and movement instructor, a server at farm-to-table restaurants, and a massage therapist. They received a BFA in Dance from Ohio University, and find themselves dancing and birding all over the place—transcontinentally across North America, throughout Europe, and most recently in South America. Their current focus on decolonization and regeneration brings years of ecology and conservation study into relationship with their work in movement and healing arts, attending to the urgent need to reconnect with the ecological systems of our planet as intelligent, responsive, and creative human animals.
