Join artist Erin Ruffino as she discusses the mural she designed and painted for Roger’s Art Studio at RTPI. Erin will share how the development and design were informed by inspiration from Roger Tory Peterson. Entitled “Flicker Moment”, the mural’s narrative describes Peterson’s role as a bridge between the shotgun and the binoculars in bird-watching and emphasizes the revolutionary role of the Peterson field guides. Of her mural, Erin states that she hopes children will see a reflection of themselves in Peterson, and see conservation and admiring wildlife as a lifelong adventure.

Erin Ruffino resides in Fredonia, NY where she graduated in 2019 from the State University of New York at Fredonia with a BFA specializing in Drawing and Painting. Her personal work focuses on figurative surrealism and she currently creates murals for businesses and institutions. Personal endeavors include camping with family at state parks, listening to podcasts, and whistling to the noisy Eastern Screech Owl in her backyard. Turkey vultures are her favorite animals. Don’t tell the screech owl.
