Roger’s Bird-Day Bash

We have a very special Roger’s Bird-Day Bash in store for you this summer. Not only are we celebrating Roger Tory Peterson’s 116th birthday, but also 90 years of the Peterson Field Guide and 40 years of RTPI! Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root, will be back, rain or shine, to help us rock the house! In addition, local musicians Miranda Wilcox and Tim Britt will be opening up for Michael.

Sandee’s Catering will be grilling in the back courtyard and PersNikkity Pies will be here with drool-worthy desserts. The RTPI bar will be open with a variety of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages to choose from.

10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Museum open with exhibitions Art that Matters to the Planet: Clarity and Amy Tan’s Backyard Birds.

12:00 – 12:45 pm – Bird-Day Bash kicks off with Tim Britt.

Glabicki and long-time bandmate, Dirk Miller, take the old Rusted Root favorites, along with new material, and perform re-envisioned version of them in an up close and intimate setting. “We go into the crevices of the songs and expand them out and open up the music to whatever happens in the moment,” Glabicki says of his shows with Miller. “It’s completely improvisational, to the point where we surprise ourselves a lot. Things just happen, and I start laughing. It’s like we’ve never heard it sound like that before. We have a great time with it and the audience seems to enjoy the musical exploration too.” Check out this video featuring Michael and Dirk by clicking HERE.
