Summer Soirée at the Lodge

Featuring Guest Artist James Prosek

It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful setting for the gathering of good friends than outdoors, under the tent, at RTPI. Event co-chairs Fred and Jennifer Johnson of Johnson Estate Winery invite you to join us for dinner and discussion with artist, writer and naturalist James Prosek. Prosek first learned to draw by copying birds from the Peterson field guides. A graduate of Yale University, his work has been exhibited at numerous museums and galleries, including The Royal Academy of Arts in London, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. He has published numerous articles and books, and won a Peabody Award in 2003 for his documentary about traveling through England in the footsteps of Izaak Walton, the seventeenth-century author of The Compleat Angler. A recipient of the Gold Medal for Distinction in Natural History Art from the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, he is a curatorial affiliate, as well as on the board of the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale, and a member of the advisory board of the Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies.

In addition to the program featuring James Prosek, CEO Arthur Pearson will provide an update on RTPI’s new strategic plan — a dynamic schedule of exhibitions and programs, the launch of an artist-in-residence program and a Plein Air Festival, the expansion of programs for youth and families.
