Flights of Feathers: Migratory Birds
Most people know that, when the seasons change, some birds set off for different climates—but does the average person think about the continued journey once the wavering V of geese drifts out of their field of vision? Do all birds migrate? How do they know where they’re going? Migrations are travel epics that countless birds engage in every year, from waterbirds like albatrosses, ducks, and geese to hummingbirds and flamingos. In this exhibition, guests will be able to view original ink works and paintings by Roger Tory Peterson from across his artistic career that depict these birds and their journeys, alongside his photography and breathtaking images from the Macaulay Library at Cornell.
